Philippines is seeing an increasing trend in the number of flower orders made by
women for the men in their lives. This Valentine season is especially the busiest,
with hundreds of orders jam-packing flower shops all over the world. And women are
figuring prominently here, alongside men.

Says Jerry C., jittery but proud owner of a fledgling flower shop in the Philippines, "It's not unusual for the ladies to be buying flowers here, but when they start telling me it's for their boyfriend, that's something. Nice."

still important industries in the Philippines. Flowers are not a staple, everyday gift as they are in other countries. Filipinos give and deliver flowers only by season or occasion, which includes among the few, birthdays, graduations, All Saints Day, and the time we are in right now--the holidays. Jerry, like any other flower shop owner, hopes to change all that. Which is why, for Filipinos living abroad, to go out of one's way just to deliver flowers to the Philippines is always a well-appreciated effort. Be it a woman receiving flowers or giving them.

For the men out there not used to being pampered, they better watch out. Valentines
